Expired: China Australia Journalist Exchange 2013

The China Australia economic relationship
and other opportunities

17 to 27 November 2013

The Asia Pacific Journalism Centre is calling for applications from Australian journalists for the inaugural China Australia Journalist Exchange, to be held from 17 to 27 November 2013.

The exchange has been initiated by the APJC and the All China Journalists Association to increase journalists’ knowledge of the other country and broaden understanding between the two countries.

Five Australian journalists will travel to China on a one-week study tour of three cities while five Chinese journalists make a parallel study tour of Australia. Both groups will then meet for a dialogue session in Beijing to compare observations and perceptions.

The theme of the 2013 exchange, “The China Australia economic relationship and other opportunities”, will allow Chinese and Australian journalists to explore both the evolving economic relationship and the broader social, cultural and political relationship.

In each country, the journalists will meet with government, business, and NGO leaders, academics, journalists, and members of the community at large.

The Australian group will travel to Shanghai, Chongqing and Beijing, with APJC board member and editor-at-large of The Canberra Times, Jack Waterford.

The program is supported in Australia by the Australia China Council (ACC), the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd (ANZ) and Sofitel Luxury Hotels.
