Strategies for boosting news coverage of the role of women in the economy will be explored in an upcoming APJC program for 12 Pacific journalists.
Funded by Australian Aid, the program recognises the role news media can play in helping Pacific women gain access to economic and leadership opportunities.
Journalists taking part are coming from PNG, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu.
The program aims to build skills in reporting women in business and the economy, develop editorial strategies for giving women more voice in public life, and promote equal opportunity in newsrooms.
Key elements are women in leadership training, business journalism workshops, professional visits and news media attachments.
The five-week program starts in April.
